Terms of use
Updated 12 October 2026
These terms
Dayleaf (“we”) is a digital journal service: you provide words and photos, we lay them out as journal pages, and we offer AI help, sticker art and a community to share in. By signing up for or using the service you agree to these terms and to the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Accounts
- You can log in with the ways the login page offers, such as your email (a password or an emailed code) or a Google account. An account made with an email and a password has to confirm its email before it can be used.
- Keep your password and codes to yourself; you are responsible for what is done through your account. If someone else is using it, tell us as soon as you can.
- If you are under 14 (or the higher age set where you live), use the service only after a parent or guardian has read and agreed to these terms.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time on the “Membership and credits” page; what that does is set out in the Privacy policy.
Your content
- The words you write, the photos you add and the journals you make with them belong to you.
- So that we can run the service, you give us the non-exclusive, free permission it needs: to store, process and display that content (including passing it to an AI provider for a request you make), and, when you share to the community, to show it publicly to everyone. The permission ends when you stop sharing, delete the journal or delete your account.
- Add only content you have the right to use. Other people’s likenesses, work and personal information need their consent first.
What is not allowed
- Content that breaks the law; sexual, violent or hateful content, or content that harasses others; content that infringes others’ copyright, likeness or privacy; publishing someone’s personal information without their consent; spam and advertising.
- Registering accounts in bulk, calling the service by script in bulk, getting around allowances or payment, or interfering with how the service runs.
- When we find any of this, we may remove the content, stop the sharing, take back the credits involved, or suspend or close the accounts involved.
Sharing and reports
- A journal shared to the community is reviewed first and becomes public only once approved. A public journal can be seen by everyone, who can also “make one like it” from its layout (your words and photos do not go with it).
- Anyone can report a journal in the community; reported content may be taken out of view until a moderator has looked at it. Who reported it is not told to its author.
- If you believe something infringes your rights, email [email protected] with a link to it and proof of your rights.
AI features
- The AI features (making a journal, writing a page, drawing a picture and the like) are provided by third-party AI providers. What they produce may be wrong, unsuitable or similar to other people’s content; it is yours to decide whether to keep it, and you are responsible for how you use it.
- An AI picture is an illustration, not a photo of something that happened. Do not use AI to make content that impersonates or misleads people.
Stickers and art
The stickers, pop-up scenes, 3D models and other art we provide may be used within the service and shared as part of the journal images you export. The art files themselves may not be downloaded on their own, resold or redistributed.
Membership and payment
- Membership is a monthly or yearly subscription, at the price shown on the payment page. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time under “Manage subscription” and keep access until the end of the period you paid for; nothing is charged after that.
- A period that has started is not refunded for the time left, except where the law requires it.
Credits
- Credits are used for the features that call on an AI service (writing a page, making a journal, drawing a picture). What each one takes is shown on the “Membership and credits” page. Writing, laying out, saving and sharing yourself take none.
- Every account has a monthly allowance of credits, the size of which depends on its plan at the time. The allowance is reset once a month; what is left does not carry over and has no cash value (except on a plan that says credits carry over, where up to one month’s allowance is kept for one more month). Moving to a higher plan adds the difference at once; after moving to a lower plan or when a membership ends, the new allowance applies from the next reset.
- Credits bought separately do not expire and are used only once the monthly allowance is gone. Credits can be used only within this service; they cannot be transferred, withdrawn or exchanged for money.
- Nothing is taken when something could not be made. For what was made, the credits are not returned, whether or not you keep the result.
- If a purchase of credits is refunded or disputed, those credits are taken back. If they have already been used, the account’s balance may go below zero, and later allowances pay that off first.
- Allowances and what features take may change; changes apply only to allowances given and use made afterwards, and never reduce credits already bought. When you delete your account, its remaining credits go with it and are not refunded.
The service
- We do our best to keep the service running, but cannot promise it will never be interrupted or have errors. Keep your own copies of what matters to you, for example by exporting your journal as images.
- We may add, change or stop features. Before stopping the whole service we will announce it on the site at least 30 days ahead and give you time to export your content.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses from using the service, and our total liability is limited to what you actually paid us in the past 12 months.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Important changes will be posted on this page and announced on the site or by email before they take effect. Using the service after that means you accept the changed terms.
